How To Buy The Perfect Classic Car For You

As we offer classic car storage to an ever expanding list of customers, we’ve seen a huge number of different classic cars stored with us.

Varying considerably in everything from their age through to their make, the cars are all treasured by their owners and irrelevant of what others think of the vehicles, they’re loved and adored by their respective drivers.

When we look online at forums about classic car buying, we regularly see people asking how they can buy the perfect car; what it is they have to look out for to ensure they get the right vehicle for them.

Often being bombarded with an array of different answers, with people telling them they need to get a car prior to x year if they want it to be a ‘true’ classic or to only go with y manufacturer, as they’re without doubt ‘the best’, in some ways, it’s a bit disconcerting.

The reason behind this is that most people have completely different views as to what the perfect classic car is.

Some will want fast, sporty and relatively recent (in terms of classic cars), whilst others will want something more luxurious – and there’ll be plenty more whose ideal classic car is something completely obscure that others wouldn’t have considered when they were available brand new!

And it’s for this exact reason why when you’re looking for advice on buying the perfect classic car for you, the main person who you should be asking for advice from is yourself.

You’re the one who knows what it is you want on the broadest of levels.  You may not know specifics or even which manufacturer you’re looking for, but you’ll know why you want a classic car and what you’re going to use it for, which is a perfect way to get started when looking for a classic car.

You’ll know whether you want it for everyday use or simply for the occasional Sunday drive.  You’ll know whether you have the time and knowledge to spend restoring and repairing a vehicle or whether you need something that’s going to be particularly reliable.

You’ll be aware of whether a two-door coupe would be suitable or if a four-door saloon is going to be more appropriate.  Similarly, you’ll have an understanding of your budget, something that’s going to have a large impact on which car it is you eventually choose, whatever your other requirements are.

By all means, reach out to experienced classic car owners and ask for advice, but it’s important you understand that every owner is different and at the end of the day, only you’ll know which car is right for you.

As we said above, the car owners who use our secure car storage facility all love their vehicles, but the cars are all completely different from one another, showing just how vast and varied our tastes and requirements actually are.
